Deck Preparation

Spring is a great time of year to clean and stain your deck. We often get asked, “Do I need to wash my deck before staining?” Think of it this way, would you wax a dirty car? Proper preparation is important for good looking, long lasting results. I do not advise pressure washing. All you need to use is a good deck wash product and a scrub brush or stiff broom. Do not use “home brews” they may harm the wood and prevent adhesion of your finish. Your deck needs to be dry for at least 48 hours after washing or of it rains.

Although it’s not much fun, proper deck care will protect your investment. When done right you should achieve beautiful looking, long lasting results.  Stop in and let us recommend the right products for you.
